Q. What do you like most about your current job?
I love the challenge of real estate. Everyone needs housing, so we are in a privileged position to help people at what is often such an important time in their lives. The fact we have the opportunity to work with so many different people and sectors of the community is exciting to me. My own role constantly evolves too, which gives means I'm always looking at ways we can be doing things differently, giving more to our clients, and having fun as a team.
Q. What excites you most about the real estate industry?
I strongly believe the past 5 years have seen a real change in how we sell and rent real estate. There are incredible tools to help us provide a great service and invest time into building great relationships so we can better choose the clients we want to work with. Outside of our day to day role, I love participating in industry debates about housing and how we can bring communities together to be successful and strong.
Q. What do you remember about the first property you tried to rent/buy?
Coincidentally, the first property I ever made an offer on was with an agent who now sells with us – that was 25 years ago. I didn’t get that property, but I love that the Salesperson still loves what they do. It was actually a positive experience even though we didn’t secure the property – and that always stuck with me too. The agent was clear, honest, communicated well and gave us tips for the next offer. Those basics are still so important in our team.
Q. How long have you worked in your current role?
I’ve been at Turner for 9 years now and in that time, we’ve doubled the size of the business with some exciting plans for the future.
Q. What professional achievement/s are you most proud of so far?
At Turner, I've loved leading a team who’s embraced change, repositioned the business and grown in response to opportunities to strengthen our brand. Seeing team members grow into leaders is also something I love. I’m always looking for opportunities to cross-train the team and offer new challenges.
Q. What's your favourite hobby or thing to do in your spare time?
I’m learning Spanish and try and get to Orange Theory Fitness 4-5 times a week to stay fit and strong.
Q. Any charities or volunteer organisations you're involved in you'd like us to mention?
I’m still a believer that our industry is stronger together, so always like to encourage people to support their local REI.
Q. What are your thoughts on Propic or the possibilities of AI in real estate more broadly?
AI is here to stay. It offers any business the opportunity to systemise and streamline day to day operations. Humans have unique skills that can’t be replicated – so use these skills in the most productive ways and let tech solve the boring stuff.
